GCRR Press is in the process of bringing together some of the world's top scholars and researchers on religious trauma for a comprehensive book on the subject. Part of that book is to include real life stories from actual suffers of religious trauma and spiritual abuse. If you're comfortable and willing, we'd like to hear your story. Without specifically naming your perpetrators, tell us what happened to cause this trauma. As a way to help get you started, we've included a few questions you might choose to answer in your narrative: Do you suffer from religious trauma as defined by the NACRTR ? If so, in what religious tradition(s) did the trauma occur? Was the trauma a result of a single event, a series of isolated events, a specific doctrinal teaching, or the prolonged exposure to a harmful religious culture/environment? What state or region of the US did this trauma occur? What symptoms do you exhibit as a result of the trauma? Has the religious trauma directly impacted your current religious or spiritual beliefs? What are your current religious or spiritual beliefs now? Has the religious trauma directly impacted your ability to function as an adult? In what way? Thank you for sharing your story with us.
